   Brer Roy,

To me the Root Directory on my C: HDD is C:\ .
Long time ago I read that DOS can only have 512 Entries put there.
So I never have tried to let anything be placed in the C:\ or D:\ etc.
directory unless I felt it was absolutly necessary that it be in there.

That's why I somewhat do as You do, but in a more limited way.

I look at a Sub-Directory as a box that I put everything in, and if I
ever want to go looking for something in the box, I go drag it out and
start rooting through it until I find what I was looking for.

So I go to a Sub-Sub-Directory(box) and using Windows Explorer (WE) and
by either clicking at the top of WE's window, the Name bar to look for
it by name OR I click the Date Modified bar to look for the file around
what I think was the Date I put it in there, I hope to find it there.

XTree was memtioned to me IIRC by Holger some time ago.
IIRC I didn't want to pay to use it so I didn't grab it.

I'll add looking for ZTreeWin v1.41 on my ROUNDTUIT list to look it
   over.

I have a prg called Freecommander already that probably will let
me look at the contents in all of the 3900+++ files in there.

I will take a look at FC and see if I can see inside all types of
files, because I like looking in things on my HDD to see if I might
   learn (or stumble upon) something.

Thanks for giving me the thought to do it!
