Hello Robert Wolfe,              I decided to use Windows 7 because all the preliminary information       from Santronics seemed to indicate that WC7 would work best under       Windows 7. Also, the information from Santronics seemed to make the       viability of backwards compatibility with Windows XP questionable.              I am currently running WC 6.4.454.1, under Windows XP, on an       Emachine T3104. I experienced problems upgrading WC beyond this       version on this machine. The network card went out on this       machine, so I transferred the BBS to another XP Emachine Model       T6524. The second XP machine had problems registering various files       / programs such as the OCX (?) required for Wcreport, especially the       statistics program.              I eventually replaced the network card in the original T3104       computer and have been able to keep it functioning. However, the       load often is 70 to 80 percent, making web page revisions and       other Windows based maintenance slow and aggravating work.              Both of these Emachines are over ten years old and beginning to       experience hardware problems.              I had the opportunity to obtain a Gatweay AMD E1 - 1500 APU, 6GB RAM       (2.96 usable) ACPI X86 - Based PC, as settlement in a class action       suit against Gateway or Emachine, on a faulty CD RW drive. Choice       was the Gateway or about 35 dollars. Took the Gateway: no modem, no       expansion slots, (nasty words omitted).              The Gateway came with Windows 8. Garbage. Upgraded to Windows 8.1,       64 bit. Garbage. Upgraded to Windows 10 - reprehensible. Purchased       Windows 7, Home Premium, 32 bit, from Walmart ($80.00) and tried to       install it but the Windows 10 program blocked installation; yes,       changed the BIOS; could not even reformat the HD. Brought it to a       computer shop and paid $100.00 to have my Windows 7 installed.              Installed WC 6 (in the WC5 directory) and PX, on the Gateway,       migrated both from the Emachine T3104 to the Gateway. Got everything       working except for Wildcat SMTP.              And that is the rest of the story.              Oh, I do not run any games or doors, and all maintenance is done       from the keyboard on the machine.              Marc Lewis (my HUB) told me he thinks you are connecting with his       system using PX on the Internet. I would like to set this up on the       Gateway, but first I have to get Wildcat SMTP working. If our       schedules ever mesh Marc might be able to help me with this using a       remote access program on the Gateway.              Had to put this on the back burner due to the flooding around here       August 13. Damage here mainly car's transmission (another expense),       and oriental carpets in the Church (will try scrubbing with Dawn,       good rinse, and sun drying, but probably will rot).              Did have a fish jump out of the water over my driveway but could not       get to the scoop net fast enough, otherwise would have had fresh       fish for dinner on the 14th.              At least I am not in Section B, on page 2. :-)              Peace,              Fr.
