   Hi All,

I need to 1) display a prompt, 2) accept an alphanumeric value and assign it
to an environment variable, then 3) test the variable and act on it's
value(s). I can do 1) and 3) but how do I accept data into the environment?

I perused a few scripts and studied how to assign values to the environment,
etc., but keyboard input seems to be a rare case {chuckle}.
