   Actually 'tr' has been around for AGES and should work just fine   
   even on the original Sparc stations with their abandonwared original   
   versions of Solaris running on them.  Not that I know for sure but   
   I'd bet it might even work with VMS as is.

   Always good to have another way to communicate and as it sits today   
   my email is no different a situation than echomail with respect to   
   assuming the screen width for display being under 80 characters.   
   However netmail is unbounded.  ;-)   
      
   The first draft I can send as an email attachment and we can finetune   
   it from there.  For the first draft I am assuming that all output will   
   be directed to the directory the script is fired up in so outbounds   
   aren't an issue at this point in time but I can see where you are   
   going with this and think it is a good idea to have expecially if   
   any tranfers of the output are to be employed.
