   * An ongoing debate between Maurice Kinal and Ben Ritchey rages on ...

    MK> echo "MSGID: 1:393/68 $(printf "%08x" $(date +%s))"
    MK> Does that look usable for a MSGID generator on your end? Won't take

   So far I have in MSGTEST.SH:

   === Cut ===
   echo "2 68 38 393 261 0 0" | \
    perl -e 'while(<>) {@myarray = split(/ +/, $_);};\
    print pack("S*", @myarray);' >partial.msg
   echo -ne "AREA:TUXPOWER\x0d" >>partial.msg
   echo -ne "\x01Stinkin'_kludges\x0d" >>partial.msg
   echo -ne "\x01MSGID: 1:393/68 $(printf "%08x" $date +%s))\x0d" >>partial.msg
   === Cut ===

   but I get an error (line 6: printf: +%s: invalid number) when I run it :( I
   added the \x01, \x0d and redirect append to it ;-)
