   Some of it is how cheap it is to produce, soaps are cheap which explains both    
   Dark Shadows and The Walking Dead ;} Star Trek tends to use more expensive    
   effects and upgrade them when better are available. The Stargate series used    
   effects that were cheaper and got better and better. Sanctuary only exists    
   because of effects that grew out of Stargate. Planet hell is now only in a    
   computer, not even a painting anymore :(
