   That would be cool!   
   But I don't think they want or even can do it. I think Abrams even once said    
   that he wished that his Trek was considered the only Trek. That obviously    
   will never happen.   
      
   But if they do, they should talk to the folks that make 'Phase II' or 'Star    
   Trek Continues'. Or those that worked on 'Starship Exeter'.   
   Or they could Forest Gump it, but then again, they already did that on DS9.

   JJ's Star Trek is obviously not the universe in 'Mirror, Mirror'. JJ's thing    
   is a totally different animal all together.   
   The 'verse with Spock-with-a-Beard looked too much 'our' Trekverse as it was    
   depicted between 1966 and 1969.   
   And as others have pointed out, The M-verse was bad from day 1 it seems.    
   Some speculate it might be a continuation of sorts of 'our' Roman Empire.

   As for a (first) contact with 'known' races, those would be the counterparts    
   of those of the 1966-1969 verse.
