Sort of, I've had a major change of career goals. I have retrained to become
a youth worker and have been doing the work experience element of my degree,
given that I have chosen to work with very troubled teens it is pretty much
a job when you are never completely off duty. I must admit that, after
having a rather long time owning my own business, going back to the "work
experience guy" level of authority when I'm within spitting distance of
forty has been a bit of a surreal experience.
This is, by the way, the best job I've ever had, the pay is crap, the job is
thankless and the clients are often very frustrated and frustrating, but
haveing said all that seeing hope return to the eyes of a teen who has
pretty much given up on the idea of ever having a decent life is the most
rewarding thing I have ever experienced.
So rewarding that the old phrase 'better than sex' doesn't even begin to
cover it
