   Windows 3.0 was actually fairly good.  In some ways better than 3.1   
   because it retained the ability to run in Real Mode.   
   But I wasn't that wild about either one, and generally avoided using   
   Windows unless I had to until Windows 95 came out.  Before then the   
   Dos Prompt and Norton Commander were just better.  To this day, I use   
   Total Commander (a shareware Windows Norton Commander-like program)   
   literally every day for file management and other things.  The   
   Shareware version isn't crippled (except for a nag screen) but I paid   
   for it anyway just because I used it so much it would have been   
   indecent not to.
