Also this episode is noted for another piece of trivia: the continuing

When "Mac-Coy" is trying to help Eleen up the side of a mountain, he
desperately tries to get help from Kirk and Spock, complaining that

Tige Andrews was really "chewing up the scenery" in this episode.
It is hard to think of him as the police captain in "The Mod Squad".

In this episode, some of the scenes that usually get cut from
   syndication are Scotty's scenes.
While Kirk and company are fighting the Capellans, Scotty is kept
busy, playing cat-and-mouse with the Klingon ship.... which is just
staying out of sensor range. Of course, since we never even see the
ship (except as a blob of light), it is a sneaky way of trimming the
   budget, too.
