   It was probably supposed to be a running theme on "Phase II."  In the   
   ST:TMP novelization it's mentioned that the probe also emanates   
   pheromones since V'Ger had made a perfect copy of Ilia.   
      
   I've never noticed it but according to Memory Alpha there's a male   
   Deltan on Regula 1 in ST2 and a female Deltan on the bridge of the   
   Excelsior in ST3.   
      
   Speaking of aliens, there was a big deal made at the time about the   
   number of new aliens in ST:TMP (which seemed to be used strictly for   
   the big crew gathering) many of which can be seen on this page
