I wouldn't call it "good;" I only thought it was okay. There were a
few good moments where I actually laughed, and I really liked the
Captain Pike character, but mostly I was constantly irritated by
those glaring white sets, the interiors of the starships that with all
those pipes and things looked more like a tour through a brewery
rather than spaceships, and the goofy rotating shuttles and torpedoes.
And if I didn't say it before, the nacelles on the ships were the
worst things I have ever seen anywhere! Who designed the Kelvin, Rube
   Goldberg?
On the DVD somebody said that the problem with the early TOS was that
there wasn't enough money to do it right, but that wasn't true: more
money doesn't guarantee quality, it only means that if you fuck up
with lousy set designs and silly ideas, you can really badly fuck up
with a lot more money to do it with. I can't remember any movie that
had worse execution in my entire lifetime of movie going...
