   Subject: Vulcan Racism Vs. IDIC?   
      
   One of things about the movie that really bothered me was all the   
   rascism the Vulcans showed-- Calling Sarek a traitor, calling Amanda a   
   whore, etc. For a logical, supposedly  passionless   
   people who believed in infinite diversity-- these Vulcans were sure a   
   narrow-minded lot.   
      
   Spock said he was teased as a kid, but the adults here... Given that   
   kind of mentality, how did such people ever become founding members in   
   the Federation? Maybe it's an "alright if you work with them but you   
   sure don't want to marry any of them" kind of thing we never heard   
   before or is this one of the new things JJ felt he needed to spice up   
   our favorite alien folks?
