   Well, in The Corbomite Maneuver, we were told that a pure Vulcan would   
   have looked something like the false Balok... who, apparently, must   
   have resembled Spock's father much more closely than the Romulan   
   commander on "Balance of Terror".   
   Playing fast and loose with continuity apparently has a long history   
   in Trek.
