Spock's greates fear has always been of being emotional or illogical. Sending
an emergency signal to Starfleet when the kids have affected his perceptions
   so
that nothing appears to be wrong could certainly be seen as being either or
both, but so could his unusually snippy response to Kirk. But from my POV the
more interesting question is how the kids keep him from pushing the button
   when
he sees what's really going on. Everyone else is either influenced by
   illusion
or the intensification of fear, but this is outright control of movement.
