   Those were young Vulcan bullies, taunting young Spock.  They were    
   supposed to be unlikable--by Spock. But they were kids, no different    
   than similar kids on Earth.   
      
   That whole scene was inspired by Amanda's recollection of it in TOS    
   "Journey to Babel."   
      
   More to the point was when the Vulcan man called Spock's human DNA a    
   disability.  That wasn't very IDICy of him.
