Vaal's power supply. He was keeping an entire planet as a
weather-locked garden of eden, and all of a sudden here comes this
intruding starship. Now he's got to try and drag that down out of the
sky. And he's not all that accurate with the lightning strikes because
he's never *had* to be accurate; if the people of Vaal get out of
line, throw a few cloud-to-cloud zaps and maybe a tree or two, and
that should do the trick. Notice how much was going on, and all of it
on a few baskets of fruits and vegetables, with not a single Whopper
or even a Choc-dipped Cone in sight. Considering how quickly Vaal got
weakened when the landing party kept the People from feeding him, it's
clear that whoever programmed Vaal in the first place didn't know jack
shit about contingency plans. Had they been in charge of Apollo 13,
the crew would have been dead before Apollo 9 made it to the launch
pad!
