If that were true, there would be no problem. What annoys people is
the feeling of obligatoriness about it. That they did it that way not
because they didn't care one way or the other, but because they DId
care and felt they HAD to. We've all had our fill of shows that were
too afraid of offending anyone to say anything meaningful (like about
half the episodes of Next Generation), so a lot of people just steer
clear of such projects the moment they get a whiff that that's what
   they're going to be.
And they may get angry about it if they were fans of the franchise and
hoping for something more than the same old same-old. It seems
sometimes like there are only 2 or 3 stories that Hollywood still
knows how to tell (one of them being "how tough it is battling
discrimination") and everyone's sick to death of them. Kind of like
that Twilight Zone episode where the hack writer pitches half a dozen
scripts, and they're all variations on the same story of a guy
promising his girlfriend to give up a dangerous job, and then being
put in a situation where he has to do it.
I'm not into Thor, so I probably wouldn't see it either way. But if I
were considering it, then I might think that if they didn't even have
the guts to accurately show a Norse cast that there was nothing there
to interest me. I know it's a comic book, as you say, but one would
assume that any adult considering seeing it would be hoping for more
   than a kiddie story.
