It's a flaw because Spock asked a very specific-- and wrong--
question. The computer however gave him the right answer from the
wrong question. If you had asked me what incident thos four people had
in common, I would hav told you nothing at all, but if I was feeling
generous, I might add that three of those four people something in
common. Computers on the other hand are literal beasties; it should
have told Spock that those four had nothing in common and that would
have been the end of it.
And what's even more odd, Spock himself doesn't realize he got the
right answer from the wrong question. For somebody who tears into the
computer when the thing only plays chess badly, I don't see why he
doesn't find out why it didn't tell him that those four people
mentioned had nothing in common; only three of them did. So it's
nitpicking, but that's my goal in life. ;-)
