From Newsgroup: alt.tv.star-trek.tos       From Address: graemecree@aol.com       Subject: Re: The Ambergris Element (TAS): my review              Another thing. This is one of the oddest titles in all of Classic       Trek. If you're not paying close attention you might have no idea       what it means. But there is one line in there where McCoy says that       the substance in Kirk and Spock's bloodstream is similar to the       ambergris of Earth whales. I'm not sure if that was wise, since from       a scientific standpoint, injecting someone with ambergris doesn't turn       them into water breathers. I know, they said it was LIKE ambergris.       In other words like it in some unspecified way, but different enough       for it to be able to turn them into water breathers. (Sheesh) Very       convoluted. I don't see how the mention of ambergris helped the story       in any way. I would have deleted it, and found another title. When I       think of ambergris, I think of perfume, so I'd expect it to make them       smell like a flower shop before turning them into water breathers.              Oh well, the aqua shuttle was kind of cool.                     --- Synchronet 3.15a-Linux NewsLink 1.92-mlp        * Origin: http://groups.google.com (1:2320/105.97)       --- SBBSecho 2.12-Linux        * Origin: telnet & http://cco.ath.cx - Dial-Up: 502-875-8938 (1:2320/105.1)    |
