   That's what I think.  And TOS sometimes went too far with that.  Like   
   the scene in Balance of Terror where Kirk is agonizing over "what if   
   I'm wrong?" and McCoy spoon feeds him a homily about the number of   
   stars in the universe.  There really shouldn't be time for that kind   
   of thing in a combat situation.  TAS sometimes went too far the other   
   way.

   Except that it didn't.  There are a lot of good episodes after this   
   one.
