   Of course, I posted in haste. I left that tidbit out in error. I added   
   sbbsctrl=c:\sbbs\ctrl  to my system variables in windows path, rebooted and it   
   started working again immediately on my new pc. I went back and looked at the   
   path files on my old laptop and noticed I had not set that path variable on my
