When viewing messages, there are sysop commands (in the menus) for viewing
   message headers.

You can use the 'smbutil v' command to view th data/mail headers:
   https://wiki.synchro.net/util:smbutil

How are you viewing your "inbox" exactly?

   That sounds normal.

    > This isn't a huge deal, but I'd like to know how it's supposed to work so I

In the mail base, the "ToExt" (to extension) field determines which user
account (by number) will be able to view the message. The 'to extension'
number is also in the mail index (viewable with the 'smbutil x' command). A
'to extension' value of "0" mean nobody, i.e. it's an outbound message not
   destined for a local user.
