   The MSGS @-code is already supported (in v3.20e and later).

   The SMB_* @-codes only work when a message base is *open* (e.g. for reading).   
   What is the context in which you want to use these @-codes?

   It takes time to open a message or file base and determine how many are new,   
   so expect a visible delay when using such @-codes if/when added.
