   I see what's happening: the "password" field is *required* for the -H option   
   (either -H or -H ), so it's accepting "-s[777]" as the   
   password. The whole point of -H (versus -h) is not use the user's password in   
   the hash at all (so it can be changed later), so the sysop needs to provide a   
   password on the command-line.
