TZUTC: -0800       MSGID: 57376.sync_sys@1:103/705 2c22c003       PID: Synchronet 3.20c-Linux master/64352121b Feb 09 2025 GCC 12.2.0       TID: SBBSecho 3.23-Linux master/4f75c8149 Feb 22 2025 GCC 12.2.0       BBSID: VERT       CHRS: UTF-8 4       open https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/issues/875              In "scfg > system > New User Prompts > E-mail/Net-Mail Address" Sysops have an       option of Yes/No. Requesting to modify this option to "Yes/No/UserOption". If       sysops picked the UserOption function it would give the new user the option of       supplying a valid email or not. Example of New caller:              [√] Enter your location (e.g. city, state): My Location, State       [√] Enter your gender (MFX): M       [√] Add an email address? (Y/N)       [√] Network mail address (Example: user@domain)              If [N]o is picked for adding an email address the user can add one at a later       date in [D]efault user config. Sysops can communicate the importance of having       a email address in the new user welcome email or via other methods.               The rationale for this request is I've seen a number of new users concerted       with this question and disconnect when asked. And to be fair, i don't want new       callers using the same email they use for Online Banking used on my BBS. This       can also be explained in the new user message. Offering a "UserOption"       choice—where they can decide to share an email or skip it, with the option       to add one later strikes a good balance as it respects their comfort level       while giving sysops and users flexibility.       --- SBBSecho 3.23-Linux        * Origin: Vertrauen - [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.net (1:103/705)       SEEN-BY: 103/13 705 105/81 106/201 124/5016 128/187 153/757 7715 154/10       SEEN-BY: 154/30 110 203/0 218/700 221/0 226/30 227/114 229/110 114       SEEN-BY: 229/206 317 400 426 428 470 550 700 705 240/1120 5832 266/512       SEEN-BY: 280/464 5003 5006 291/111 292/8125 301/1 320/219 322/757       SEEN-BY: 341/66 234 342/200 396/45 423/120 460/58 256 1124 467/888       SEEN-BY: 633/280 712/848 770/1 902/26 5020/400 8912 5054/30 5075/35       PATH: 103/705 280/464 460/58 229/426           |
