   If you use the emailval.js module (and your outgoing internet email works   
   properly), then new users can't log into the system without providing a valid   
   email address.   
      
   It's good to let new users know up front why your system requires email   
   addresses. Password retrieval is as good a reason as any, in case they forget   
   it. My new user login process makes this very clear.
