   Regarding the reported problem, do you have `AutoAddToAreaFile` set to `true`   
   in your `sbbsecho.ini` file?   
      
   If yes, can you search your `sbbsecho.log` file for occurrences of the text:   
   "Adding sub-board (x) to Area File y with uplink z, tag: t" and see if maybe   
   the duplicate areas were "auto-added"?
