   ESC can be made to work here.   
      
   I can add Q, but I think it's a fallback that only works if there's nothing in   
   the lightbar that contains that letter. Text entry normally searches the   
   lightbar list.   
      
   I didn't give much thought to which ctrl keys were used, so suggestions for   
   the others are welcome. (I don't generally know or pay attention to what   
   CTRL-whatever corresponds to as a control code.)
