   When you select to reply to a message in DDMsgReader and SlyEdit opens, check   
   to make sure there's a QUOTES.TXT file in the node directory for the node   
   you're logged into.  If there's no QUOTES.TXT file, that could indicate   
   possibly incorrect permissions on that directory (Synchronet can't write to   
   it).   
      
   Or, if you're not logged in with the sysop account, it could be that the option   
   to allow message quoting is disabled for the sub-board (SCFG > Message Areas >   
   (choose the message group) > Message Sub-boards > (sub-board) > Toggle Options   
   > Allow Message Quoting).   
      
   Other than that, off the top of my head, I'm unsure what else might be causing   
   that..
