   That messed is skipped (not downloaded) because it was crossposted to many   
   groups (so likely SPAM). That threshold is configurable (max_new   
   groups_per_article), default is 5.

   I don't think the skipping of articles slows anything down. More likely,   
   you're just downloading a lot of articles or a lot of big articles. You can   
   reducing the yield interval and length of newslink sacrificing some CPU   
   utilization for faster downloads - "lines_per_yield" and "yield_length" - set   
   'em both to 0.
