   It's weird that the client is sending "Xref" as an argument of the GROUP   
   command - that should be the name of a newsgroup, but "Xref" likely is not.

   Yeah, it's doing something weird. I'm not sure if there's something unique   
   about the Synchronet nntpservice that's triggering that behavior, but it does   
   seem unexpected.
