|    MEDICAL UPDATE AND INQUIR    |
|    06 Jan 16 17:39:00    |
Several medical updates...              1) The butt cyst wound has only a large scab on it now, which will fall off in       time. The surgeon told me that "the wound is otherwise healed", and no further       bandage or health care is needed. At least no more "hair removal" from the       butt cheek when they pull off the bandage. :P              2) The scrotal cyst removal surgery was postponed a week. They have to do it       at the end of the day, as it would delay them seeing other patients, but there       was a screw up when it was scheduled. I'm told that it will be with "a local       anesthetic", but I'm still apprehensive. My fear is that if I don't do       something with it (which has been there for 30 years), it could become       abscessed or turn into a boil. The latter hurts like heck to be lanced...and       in the groin area, any laceration could turn into fatal bleeding.              3) I am pre-type 2 diabetic, and am overweight (273)...and I know my Body Mass       Index (BMI) is high. One of the gentlemen in the waiting room this morning was       telling me about "gastric bypass surgery", and that he was originally well       over 300 pounds...but he has lost over 100 pounds, after having it done.               I did some research on it from the WebMd website, and while it'll apparently       cure type 2 diabetes, cause 60 to 80 percent weight loss (from a much smaller       stomach), and lower cholesterol and triglycerides (which have been a major       problem for me)...vitamin and mineral deficiencies are likely to result, with       changed eating habits...so special diet, exercise, and medication (if not       shots) are required the rest of ones life.               I am still waiting on the blood work for checking if I am type 2 diabetic,       and have gout...and then to see if my PCP feels that gastric bypass surgery       would be an option for me. I wonder if anyone in this echo has had, or knows       someone who has undergone it, and what their experiences were. So, I'm not       going to rush into this, but would appreciate any feedback.              Daryl              ---        * OLX 1.53 * Save the whales.
