français: pauvre- arabe: riche (introd./100)

Le français a un vocabulaire pauvre (André Martinet (Sorbonne)) (il doit
très souvent puiser dans
le réservoir sémantique grec et latin pour former ses mots; de plus, le
système de dérivation est inefficace). L'arabe a, par contre, un vocabulaire
bien plus riche avec un système de dérivation propre.
De plus, le rapprochement sémantique entre les différents lexèmes arabes
présentés est immédiatement perçu par le locuteur arabophone. Ce n'est
nullement le cas du francophone pour les correspondants en français.
Enfin, l'arabe possède deux mots là on le français n'en possède qu'un avec
deux sens différents
Comparons:
French has a poor vocabulary (André Martinet (Sorbonne University - Paris))
(it must often borrow words from Greek and Latin to make new words and the
derivation system is inefficient). In comparison, Arabic has a much more
developed vocabulary with its own derivation system. Moreover, the close
semantic link between the different lexemes listed here can be directly
observed by the Arabic speaker. This is not the case for the corresponding
French words.
Finally, there are often 2 different words in Arabic for one in French with
2 different meanings.
