   Just sharing a memory here... My father in law had a scanner sitting   
   by his chair for as long as I knew him. It was replaced and   
   upgraded over the years, but was there in 1983 when I started   
   dating my wife and was there in June of 2023 when he died   
   in the chair.   
      
   Over that time a lot of the departments went digital and   
   he couldn't hear them anymore, but he still kept it going.   
      
   I gave him some frequencies of repeaters to put in for   
   HAM traffic, but local stuff is so sporadic...   
      
   I will be putting his 40' tower with antennas to good   
   use soon. I'm getting BACK into HAM and want a unit   
   at home. I'll not be using his antennas, of course, unless   
   I can modify for ham use? HMMM...
