      CHRS: CP437 2       MSGID: 1:18/200@fidonet 668d6a38       PID: MBSE-BBS 1.1.0 (Linux-x86_64)       TZUTC: -0500       TID: MBSE-FIDO 1.1.0 (Linux-x86_64)       MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06                Title: St. Swithin's Day Sticky Toffee Pudding        Categories: Fruits, Dairy, Desserts        Yield: 6 Servings               MMMMM--------------------------PUDDING-------------------------------        6 oz Pitted dates        1 ts Baking soda        4 tb Unsalted butter        3/4 c Granulated sugar        2 lg Eggs        2 c Cake flour        1/2 ts Vanilla              MMMMM---------------------------SAUCE--------------------------------        1 c Brown sugar        6 tb Heavy cream        1 c Butter        1 ts Vanilla extract                Set the oven @ 350§F/175§F.                Butter a 2-quart ovenproof baking dish.                Soak the dates in 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, and        remove from the heat. Add the baking soda, and let        stand.                Meanwhile, cream the butter and sugar until smooth; add        the eggs, beating well. Fold in the flour, and stir in        the dates with the water and the vanilla. Pour into the        baking dish.                Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.                Meanwhile, make the sauce by heating the brown sugar,        cream, butter, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan        over low heat, and continue cooking and stirring until        the sugar dissolves and the mixture become syrupy; stir        often.
