      TZUTC: -0500       MSGID: 29288.recipes@1:2320/105 2bb760d8       PID: Synchronet 3.20a-Linux master/acc19483f Apr 26 202 GCC 12.2.0       TID: SBBSecho 3.20-Linux master/acc19483f Apr 26 2024 23:04 GCC 12.2.0       BBSID: CAPCITY2       CHRS: ASCII 1       MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06                Title: French Onion Cottage Pie        Categories: Beef, Vegetables, Potatoes, Cheese, Booze        Yield: 4 servings                2 lg Onions; halved, thin sliced        1 tb Oil        1 lb Ground beef        2 tb A-P flour        1/2 ts Salt        14 1/2 oz Can beef broth        2 tb Brandy        =+OR=+        Add"l beef broth        1 tb Worcestershire sauce        1 tb Stone-ground mustard        3 c Mashed potatoes        1 c Shredded Ementhal (Swiss)        - cheese                Set oven @ 375oF/190oC.                In a large skillet, saute onions in oil until softened.        Reduce heat to medium-low; cook for 35-40 minutes or        until the onions are a deep golden brown, stirring        occasionally.                Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, cook beef over medium        heat until no longer pink; crumble beef; drain. Stir in        flour and salt until well blended; cook 1 minute longer.        Combine the broth, brandy, Worcestershire sauce and        mustard. Gradually stir into pan. Bring to a boil; cook        and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Stir in        onions; heat through.                Transfer beef mixture to a greased 8-in. square baking        dish. Spread with potatoes; sprinkle with cheese. Bake,        uncovered, for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and cheese        is melted.
