The same goes for main characters in 99% of TV shows. You know James
Kirk is not going to die because he'll be back in next new episode.

It's not an encyclopedia or documentary. The animated movie is not
particularly different to the live-action movies we have already seen -
some talking, lots of action with space battles, land battles and
lightsabre fights.
But it does fill in some of the gap between Episodes II and II, so it
will add more information to the backgrounds of the characters.
