Railpace reported that Chevy Chase is opposed to converting a former rail   
   line, now a trail, to light rail service.

   What is troubling is that this was a former rail corridor.  Advocateds for   
   rails-to-trails always said a trail could be converted back to rail if   
   needed.  But parks are sacred and people forget there once was a rail line in   
   place, thus opposition to    
   convert a trail back to rail.   
      
   Indeed, CSX gave Phila land (made into a park) near its former psgr station.    
   Suddenly park users were complaining about CSX trains being in their way, even   
   though the trains never went away and the land was donated to the city.
