   I thought the new Phila coaches used batteries for emergency detours.   
      
   However, I don't know how that has worked out in actual practice.  It is not   
   unusual for an intersection to be closed for some reason, and necessary to   
   detour on the next block.  For a bus that's no problem, but trouble for a   
   trolley or trackless.
