   And, even those were just the speed record for gas turbine power.   
      
   11 years earlier two different conventional French electric locomotives   
   set records in the 199 mph and 206 mph range.   
      
   It would take a TGV running tests in the 1980s before those 1950s   
   records were broken by another train designed for revenue service   
   (unmanned rocket sleds that are incapable of passengers really don't   
   count for this tabulation).
