   According to a series of posts here back when a similar Metro-North   
   derailment happened, there are apparently no "posted" speeds on the NEC.   
   The crew is expected to know the speed restrictions and that is that.   
      
   I've been on a few cab rides. The alternating tie and ballast colors   
   create a high speed strobe light effect that over time I found to be   
   really disorienting. There may be some physiological impacts of this   
   that should be researched.
