It says speeds are enforced.       >       > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Civil_Speed_Enforcement_System       >              Current FRA rules require civil speed enforcement only on track segments       that carry trains at speed higher than 125mph.              Absent civil speed enforcement system, there is the possibility of using       signal speed to enforce the following speed limits: 20, 30, 45, 60, 80,       100, 125 and 150. Apparently signal speed control was not used to       enforce speed of either 45 or 60mph on this curve which would have       reduced the damage considerably or eliminated it completely. This would       involve indicating an Approach Medium aspect (45) or a Cab Speed 60(60)       at the signal at Shore interlocking for trains traveling east. Such       signal speed enforcement is used for example on the Elizabeth S curve,       where all trains get Approach Medium on signals appraching the curve in       both directions.              Starting 2016 civil speed control is supposed to be enforced on all main       line tracks irrespective of the maximum speed allowed for trains on said       track, so even this segment would have such speed control enforced by       the ACSES (Advanced Civil Speed Enforcement System).              /J              --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03        * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1)    |
