|    Party-goers on trains--mixed blessing    |
|    12 Mar 16 20:12:36    |
Phila commuter trains today were crowded with St. Patrick's Day revelers.        Indeed, many nightclubbers are using the trains weekend evenings.              The added patronage to public transit is certainly welcome.              However, there is a downside. Party people tend to be very noisy       on the train. Some passengers may wish to read quietly or are       sensitive to noise. I heard several complaints today from passengers       about the noise on the train.              I was on an LIRR train carrying Mets fans. It was a total zoo.       On that particular trip, I thought it was amusing, but there       were many other times I wanted to ride in quiet. One time an       NJT train was packed with hockey fans headed to MSG and it wasn't       a pleasant ride. Also, now a lot of fans go up to Newark arenas.              Thoughts, anyone?              Note--transit agencies tend to run 'quiet cars' only during rush       hours, not off peak nor on weekends.              --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03        * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1)    |
