   The impression I got was that in _addition_ to display the signal aspect,   
   the cab signal system now also displays the permissable speed.  That could   
   be either as a light ring around the speedometer or a digital readout.   
      
   On SEPTA's P&W line, the cars have a ring of lights.  One can see   
   the ring change faster or slower as the train moves along.   
      
   Sometimes an NJT NEC train has the cab door open and one can watch   
   the cab signals and speedometer.
