   Well, while I strongly agree two more tunnels are desperately needed, the   
   original plan ('station in a basement') was deeply flawed and better off   
   cancelled.   
      
   As I read, Penna Station was originally designed to be expanded on the south   
   with more tracksk platforms, and tunnels, and to me, that's what they should   
   do.   
      
      
   As to deep basement terminals, I'm surprised there's little opposition to the   
   LIRR project in Grand Central.  It seems awfully expensive, and I think it   
   will take a long time to bring 12 cars of passengers up to the surface; adding   
   to the total time of    
   their commute.  I wonder what the _actual net_ savings of time will be for   
   passengers.  Also, what will be timpact to the already overcrowded Lexington   
   Ave subway?
