In the wake of the Amtrak accident at Frankford Jct, we learned that two other       trains were hit by projectiles thrown hard enough to break heavy duty railroad       glass.               I'm surprised no one has said anything further about the two other trains that       were hit. That in itself is very serious and shouldn't be tolerated.                Also, I think the locomotive did have a forward-facing camera which might have       caught rock throwers. I don't know if that footage--or the footage from the       other trains--was ever checked and analyzed.               Would anyone know if they've investigated the rock throwing?                     My guess is that someone threw a rock at the derailed train and smashed the       windshield, causing the engineer to panic. He was new to the route, and       possibly sped up the train to get out of the rock zone; in his panic, he       forgot that a curve was coming        up. They did investigate the broken windshield and said it was not done by a       gunshot; however, they didn't say anything more.              --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03        * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1)    |
