Indeed! My Railpass is a 4 days in a month pass. I do not want to
consume any of its days just to ride the S-Bahn. I am using all four
days for longer distance and thus more expensive (if purchased
separately) trips, including a day trip into Poland (It is a
   Germany-Poland Pass).

For local travel I will buy a zone ABC weekly pass which is very
reasonably priced. And then for the additional day I will use a
Tageskarte. On the final day I will just use a single journey ticket to
get to Tegel from Alexanderplatz on the TXL Express Bus.

Yes I do have two very good recording apps on my iPhone. I will use one
of them to record. I have recording from a ride on the TGV Est from
Paris to Mulhouse (before that particular service got moved to the LGV
Rhine-Rhone upon its completion) at 200mph. It was pretty amazing.
