|    Route 128 station loses its Solari board    |
|    18 Jun 15 08:51:34    |
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-flap_display says one of the few remaining       Solari mechanical flip boards in the U.S. is in the Route 128 Amtrak station       near Boston. But it must have been removed, since I didn't see it on a recent       trip.              Nor were there any other signs, digital, mechanical, or static, to explain       which platform a train would arrive on. Fortunately I knew which way was       north and figured it out.              And for no reason, they make you go up, across, and down to go to the closest       platform. There isn't a track between it and the station building.              Jimmy              --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03        * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1)    |
