First, let me say I don't know the specific destruction details, so the   
   following is speculation.   
      
   Anyway, the results of the 1943 accident were much worse than the present   
   accident.  It _seems_ today the Amfleet trains knocked down catenary poles   
   while in 1943 the poles crashed through the cars.   
      
   I'm wondering if the Amfleet cars were built to a stronger design than the   
   cars of 1943 (see the pictures, some appear to the stainless).  Perhaps there   
   is something to be said for stronger carbody construction.
